When a California grower’s Merlot grapes disappeared from the vine, he put up a camera and discovered the local bears were helping themselves. Luckily, they left the Cabernet Sauvignon behind, and from it came this lush, black-fruited beauty.

After years of unbearable puzzling, the California grower behind delicious CA-BEAR-NAY Cabernet Sauvignon finally solved his vineyard mystery. Each growing season, he noticed whole bunches of Merlot disappearing from his vines. He finally put up a security camera and discovered a family of bears eating the grapes. Because the Merlot ripened first, the bears gobbled those grapes all up, leaving the grower only his Cabernet Sauvignon.

When our California expert went hunting for a fabulous Cabernet, she was impressed with the grower’s fruit quality…and even more charmed by the story. Left unoaked to allow its pure fruit flavors to shine, the wine was named CA-BEAR-NAY in honor of those pesky bears. So far, it's won gold medals at top competitions including the San Francisco International Wine Competition.

They say you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink. Well, we’ve brought you Lone Horseman Cabernet Sauvignon—and after you learn a bit about the wine, we think you’ll be eager to try it.

This elegant, award-winning California Cab hails from Red Hills Lake County, along the southwest edge of Clear Lake. The region’s natural advantages—including striking red soils of quartz crystals and volcanic gravel—and high-altitude vineyards up to 2,600 feet above sea level make it ideal for grape growing. The fruit produced here is uniquely fresh and ripe.

After patient oak aging, this California Cabernet is beautifully expressive and complex. Look forward to structured tannins plus vibrant notes of black currant, licorice, toasted almonds, chocolate and vanilla. RedHead Studios is one of Australia’s hottest wineries and their newest release, Good Cabernet, is good in every way possible—in the glass, with food, for the world. And good is an understatement, with layers of dense, dark-fruit flavor and spice.

RedHead Studios is one of Australia’s hottest wineries and their newest release, Good Cabernet, is good in every way possible…in the glass, with food, for the world…and good is an understatement.

It all started with a group of revolutionary winemakers who banded together to moonlight in a humble shed and make the kind of small-batch wines they wanted to make. Growers started bringing pick-up loads of their best grapes, “rescuing” them from the big blends.

RedHeads quickly earned a great reputation, Master of Wine Jancis Robinson writing, “this operation is as serious as a heart attack.” The wines became so popular, the cellar outgrew its home. After moving from shed to shed, RedHeads bought its own vineyard in the Barossa Valley and a built a state-of-the-art, off-the-grid, solar-powered winery.

They’ve since earned <a target="_blank" href="https://redheadswine.com/sustainability/" style="text-decoration:none; font-weight:normal;">two major Green Awards</a> from The Drinks Business, along with national environmental awards and a NASAA Organic certification.

Good Cabernet is an unbelievably good wine. The majority of the grapes come from the premium Cabernet regions of Coonawarra and Langhorne Creek. After fermentation, head winemaker Alex Trescowthick used French oak barrels to give the final blend delicate vanilla notes, as well as American oak, which added notes of coffee and smoke. 

Get ready for an intense bouquet of deep, dark-fruit notes and a palate that delivers layers of dense blackberry, cassis and currant, plus sumptuous vanilla-mocha notes on the long, smooth finish. It’s a fantastic match for char-grilled meats and veggies (hot off the barbie) or a beef stew in colder months.
