Beyond the label

When it comes to high-end Sauvignon Blanc, Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé steal the limelight. Napa and New Zealand might get a mention…but never Italy. That’s because what little is produced is expensive to make and normally served locally. But these are not normal times…

This limited-edition release hails from Friuli’s tiny, premium Colli Orientali sub-zone and expert winemaker Paolo Valle. When restaurants canceled orders this year, Paolo turned to his favorite U.S. customers (you!) with a special shipment of his fine Sauvignon Blanc. FYI, last vintage, the wine outshone more than a few pricey Sancerres and Pouilly-Fumés to win two golds and a 93-point score. And the fresh 2020 release is every bit as classy.

So, what’s it like in the glass? Supremely elegant, with vibrant lime, green apple and peach aromas. Then, zesty citrus flavors and a touch of spice on the long, clean finish. A lovely aperitivo and equally tasty with seafood or creamy pastas.

Sauvignon Blanc is one of our most in-demand whites, and this rare Italian release is sure to sell fast. Act quickly for your share.
