Flavor Profile
This exciting release hails from the iconic Mas de Daumas Gassac estate, which is often called the ‘Lafite of the Languedoc,’ and the praise doesn’t stop there. World Atlas of Wine legend Hugh Johnson says they “set an example of excellence”…Master of Wine Michael Broadbent has called their Grand Vin “one of the 10 best wines in the world”…and top UK critic Oz Clarke has hailed their Grande Réserve de Gassac Rouge as “a fabulous exclusive, but at a fraction of the price.”
Now, you can be among an elite few to taste their impressive 2021 release, which has already won acclaim from top competitions.
Aimé and Véronique Guibert founded Mas de Daumas Gassac in a remote southern French valley in 1970. As you can see from all the critical kudos, the family is famous for the care they lavish on their vineyards and the pride they have in their wines. Today, Aimé’s sons Samuel and Roman are at the helm and make this Grande Réserve in the image of their father’s finest Grand Vin: opulent, supple and completely ready to enjoy now. Brambly Cabernet Sauvignon dominates the blend, rounded out by cherry-laced Grenache and smooth, dark Syrah.
Look for a deep ruby hue and notes of red and black berries on the nose, with a touch of classic wild herbs. Powerful red currant and plum flavors shine on the palate, leading to toasty vanilla nuances. Best if decanted an hour before serving—try it with beef stew or mature cheeses.
Amazing quality for the price. Secure your share while our limited cases last.
