Beyond the label

The “road” to silky-smooth richness ends right here with this hugely acclaimed Spanish red.

Unearthed by our Spanish wine expert, “Camino de Seda” is from the cellars of rising star Mireia Altimira. It’s her homage to the famed “silk route” that once ran right through the sun-drenched vineyards of Jumilla. In fact, her premium Monastrell grapes (aka Mourvèdre in France) grow in a special ancient vineyard that’s encircled by mulberry trees—which happen to be the silk worm’s favorite dwelling.

It’s a luscious treat for sure. And, it’s really wowed international judges, scooping a stack of top awards, including a 92-point score and multiple gold medals (so far!) for the 2021 release. Look forward to intense dark berry aromas and flavors, supported by hints of mocha, vanilla and earthy spice.

Just the thing for a grilled lamb kebab or a plate of charcuterie and cheeses. But you’ll want to grab your share soon, before our limited 1.5-liter magnum bottles (twice the size of a regular bottle) are snapped up by thirsty Spanish wine fans…
