Beyond the label

“The wines are outstanding quality, from simple Bordeaux to cru classé.”
– James Suckling on Bordeaux’s 2019 vintage

The wine might not come from a big-name châteaux or lie within a famous appellation, but its far, far from simple. One taste of its elegant bouquet of red plum, redcurrant and floral notes and you’ll see why it boasts eight gold-medal wins at top international competitions.

Family run since 1852, Château Les Moutins lies on the Right Bank of the Garonne river and has an enviable mix of clay, limestone and chalk soils that makes for Merlot of exceptional freshness and expressiveness. The Merlot-rich blend also includes Cabernet Sauvignon, which adds polish and firmness.

It’s the perfect red for hearty red meats (think beef roasts or lamb chops), as well as dark-meat poultry (like duck or turkey). You could also enjoy it with stuffed eggplant, mushroom risotto and other savory vegetarian dishes. If time allows, decant an hour before serving.

Whatever you do, don’t delay. Cases of this glory-vintage award winner are limited.
