The Holy Grail for fans of fine Bordeaux…
Turn right out of Lafite ($1,000+ a bottle for their flagship). Head past Mouton ($900+). Go through a small wood, and the next vineyards you’ll come to are those of Château Ramage La Batisse—planted to the same mix of Merlot and Cabernet. This Cru Bourgeois estate offers exceptional value and has “an impressive track record for quality for close to 30 years…Ramage La Batisse represents an elegant style of Bordeaux” (critic Robert Parker).
Château Ramage La Batisse is a Bordeaux lover’s dream—not only is it cellared to perfection, but it’s also has a dozen major awards including 5 gold medals, 94 points by top critic Chris Kissack plus 90 points by both International Wine Challenge and Decanter World Wine Awards. It’s a traditional blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc aged 12 months in fine French barriques. Furthermore, it was crafted in the great 2016 vintage, which produced “outstanding, magnificently complete, classically proportioned red wines,” according to The World of Fine Wine.
This classic Cru Bourgeois Bordeaux offers layers of ripe, dark-fruit flavor, plus complex cedar and earthy spice notes. It’s definitely a wine for food, and will be a winner with hearty red meat dishes like roasted rack of lamb, roast beef, or prime rib. Top tip: decant for one hour before serving.
If you’ve caught our offers on earlier vintages, you’ll know how good Ramage is—and you’ll wisely pounce on the 2016 too.
