Beyond the label

Since graduating top of his class at Florence’s wine university, “Paolo Masi has made an excellent impression with the estate wines of his family property,” writes top critic Robert Parker.

Excellent impression, indeed. Italy’s top wine guide Gambero Rosso has famously praised Paolo’s wines for their “irreproachably clean fruit and abundant personality.” And here’s Wine Spectator on their price tag: “Looking for a good Chianti that won’t break the bank?…always a good buy…excellent value.” (Such good value that Paolo’s 2009 Riserva ranked as Wine Spectator’s No. 1 “outstanding” Chianti buy of 2013.)

This latest release of Collezione di Paolo will show you why top critics and customers enjoy Paolo’s wines so much. It displays inviting aromas of blackberry, cherry and violets, with an abundance of elegant cherry fruit (Sangiovese’s calling card) on the palate.

It’s a classic partner for pizza and pasta, and Paolo also recommends it with an antipasto platter (try tangy Pecorino cheese and slices of spicy Sopressata) or Tuscan staples like steak Florentine and ribollita, a hearty soup made with bread and vegetables.

Be sure to act quickly. This is a perennial bestseller and Paolo could only make so much…
