Beyond the label

“This is Châteauneuf at its most seductive.”
– Robert Parker on the Boisson family’s wines

We’re thrilled to bring you the latest vintage of this rich, spicy (and hugely acclaimed) southern Rhône superstar from a historic family estate.

The story begins in 1777, when Jean-Louis Boisson married into the Chambellan family, and Domaine du Père Caboche was born. It’s one of the oldest, continuously family-run estates in the region, and makes what Parker calls “enormously delicious” wines. And no wonder he’s so smitten…

“The most famous terroir is the plateau of Le Crau.” – Hugh Johnson, The World Atlas of Wine

The Boisson family proudly own vines on that legendary Châteauneuf plateau, next to icons like Vieux Télégraphe and Bonneau, while their other vines have prestigious neighbors such as Saint Préfert and Clos des Papes—very good company indeed. For years, longtime Châteauneuf mayor Jean-Pierre Boisson ran the estate, and now, his daughter Emilie continues the tradition, making what Rhône expert Jeb Dunnuck calls “beautiful wines.”

Thanks to our close friendship with Emilie, you have exclusive access to her signature release. Showcasing the glorious 2021 vintage, the latest release arrives with a 91-93 point rating from critic Jeb Dunnuck. He wrote:

“Another perfumed, floral wine that shines for its elegance and complexity. Framboise, peppery herbs, tropical flowers and spicy notes all emerge on the nose...a supple, elegant mouthfeel, light tannins and a great finish. As with the classic cuvée, it’s more about finesse and elegance than power or richness.”
