It’s the pride-and-joy creation of David Joeky, apprentice to Black Stump mastermind, Alan Kennett. David set out to prove his winemaking chops are just as sharp as Alan’s, so in secret (and after hours), he began work on a mega-rich cuvée. A 60/40 blend of Aussie powerhouse grapes Durif and Shiraz, Dark Corner is an inky-black creation that’s a worthy (and delicious) challenger to The Black Stump.

Previous releases have won top gold medals and a 93-point rating from critic Sam Kim. He raved: “Deep, dark and opulent, the bouquet shows blackberry, blueberry compote, cocoa and toasted hazelnut characters. The palate is full, weighty and flavorsome, delivering delicious fruit flavors together with vanillin oak notes, making the wine very tasty and satisfying.” This powerhouse 2022 release arrives with multiple awards, including a trophy and gold medal from the China Wine & Spirits Awards. Then there's the 90-point score from critic David Walker Bell, who wrote, "Dark color and dark flavors of cherry, blackberry, liquorice, pepper and cacao nib. The fruit is central, with oak, tannin and acidity all in alignment and supporting that plush fruit. There’s a distinctive espresso note at the back of the palate, and the finish is long and luxurious.
