Beyond the label

Southern France's Pays d’Oc is a “treasure-trove for fascinating wines and dynamic producers” says Decanter. And with fewer appellation rules, it's an exciting playground for winemakers. They tend to have a can-do attitude to produce delicious, modern wines at an affordable price—and Domaine de Longuet is a fabulous example.

It’s crafted by our good friend Vincent Gourdon, whose family has been in the wine world for generations (his great-great grandmother, Victoire, planted the estate’s first vines). The grapes for this wine all come from vineyards along the banks of the Canal du Midi. Here they ripen to perfection with warm sun and cooling coastal breezes. The result is a wine with an exuberant personality and heady aromas—ideal with a Mediterranean-inspired dish like chicken tagine or bouillabaisse.
