The Wine

You probably know that California’s Napa Valley makes some of the world’s most sought-after reds. And, if you’re a fan, you definitely know that it’s becoming increasingly difficult to find bottles that don’t completely break the bank. That’s why we’re so excited to introduce you to Gold Star.

Trevor Sheehan is a major talent in Northern California. After 10 years of collecting and trading fine wine, plus extensive training from expert winemakers in Bordeaux and Burgundy, he started crafting his own wines. For this exclusive release, Trevor sourced grapes from three of the Napa Valley’s most prized districts—Rutherford, St. Helena, and Oak Knoll—and the glorious 2018 growing season. As Decanter reports, “the 2018 vintage in Napa Valley belongs in an echelon with the finest of the past two decades.”

Back in the winery, Trevor worked to achieve the ideal blend of plummy Merlot, inky-dark Petit Verdot, and berry-rich Petite Sirah. Once satisfied, he treated the wine to 12 months in fine French oak barrels. The final result overflows with ripe cassis, plum, raspberry, and blackberry notes, supported by vanilla and mocha spice characters from the oak.

Trevor was so impressed with this luxurious red that he named it Gold Star. It’ll certainly be the star of any gathering, whether you enjoy a glass on its own or alongside food. (Lamb chops, steaks, or hearty stews would all be great pairings.)
