La Cuadrilla de Sobreño is a juicy and rich Tinto de Toro (aka Tempranillo) from a pioneering, family-run winery established in 1998.

At the time, Bodegas Sobreño was one of only 10 registered wineries in Toro, a region in Castilla y León in northwestern Spain—making its founder, Roberto San Ildefonso, a true pioneer of the area.

A native of Rioja, he was inspired by Toro’s untapped potential. With dry, hot summers followed by cold, harsh winters and altitudes of 2000 to 3000 feet above sea leavel, the region is capable of yielding bold and intense versions of Spain's signatiure red grape.

Today, Roberto works alongside his daughter, Paloma, who is helping usher the bodega into the future by introducing sustainable and biodynamic viticulture practices. They farm 80 hectares (197 acres) of vineyards of bush vines, about half of which are over 45 years old. The older plants produce fewer, but more concentrated, grapes.
