La Révélation 2019
Elegant, aromatic Roussanne is one of the great white grapes of southern France. Most famously, it stars alongside Viognier and Marsanne in the opulent (and often pricey) blends of the Rhône Valley. But for top quality and wallet-friendly prices, savvy wine fans head next door to the sunny Languedoc – home to special finds like La Révélation.
To craft this stunning white – a past Gilbert & Gaillard gold medalist – talented winemaker Mark Hoddy turned to an ancient plot at a local family estate. The gnarled, old vines produce very few grapes, which translates to incredibly concentrated flavors in the glass – especially when the fruit hails from a great vintage like 2019.
Look forward to enticing aromas of ripe orchard fruit and nutty spice. Barrel fermentation imparts a full, smooth texture to the palate, which overflows with vibrant apricot, peach, and pear flavors. The long, complex finish has a lovely streak of freshness, thanks to subtle spice and mineral notes. La Révélation will really shine with roasted chicken or creamy seafood dishes.
Reminder: ancient vines mean very little wine. Hurry to secure your share of this luscious white.
