Flavor Profile
France’s Loire Valley produces some of the world’s finest Chenin Blanc. Your elegant taste comes from third-generation winemaker Philippe Socheleau and two prized vineyard sites.
In 2001, Philippe and his father, Réne, purchased Domaine des Deux Vallées with proceeds from selling their family’s apple orchards. Réne, already an experienced farmer, tends the vines, while Philippe follows in his grandfather’s footsteps and makes the wine. Their Chenin Blanc vineyards lie in two special valleys (hence the name, ‘Les Deux Vallées’)—one on the slopes between the Loire and Layon rivers and one around the famous village of Savennières.
The gently sloping vineyards expose the grapes to brilliant sunshine (key to ripening and developing concentrated flavors), while the nearby rivers lock in vibrancy. After taking the best fruit back to his cellar, Philippe aged the wine on its lees, imparting the lovely, creamy mouthfeel.
A superb dinner party white, this fine Chenin Blanc will pair well with seafood, roasted white meats and more. Look forward to ripe peach, apple and lemon notes, with hints of honey on the rounded palate and a long, mineral-fresh finish.
This is Chenin Blanc at its finest, from a boutique, quality-focused family estate. You simply must taste it—order now.
