Beyond the label

For over 80 years, the Barbanera family has made world-class wines. Otto Decenni (eight decades) is a sumptuous Super Tuscan that celebrates this history. In 1938, Altero and Maria Barbanera bought land in Tuscany’s Piazze region to make wine for family and friends. Their son, Luigi, expanded the business, passing it on to his sons Marco and Paolo. Under their care, the estate has become one of most respected in Tuscany.

Made by fourth-generation Sofia (Marco’s daughter), Otto Decenni is a deliciously rich celebration of the family's history. The blend is predominantly Sangiovese with some Cabernet Franc and Merlot blended in, and then patiently barrel aged. It brims with dark berry and chocolatey spice notes.

"My great-grandparents had a true passion for their land,” says Sofia. “They wanted to preserve and respect their traditions by making wines that expressed the essence of those soils. Their story is the story of tenacity and love, which they passed down to us, the new generation.”
