Beyond the label

Alberto Antonini has been ranked among the world’s Top 5 winemakers by Decanter and The Drinks Business. He’s worked at renowned Tuscan estates Antinori, Frescobaldi, and Col d’Orcia, as well as famed wineries in Argentina, Australia and beyond. So, when we heard about Alberto’s latest project, we raced to secure the wine for you.

As a native of the Vinci village (also home to Leonardo da Vinci), Alberto has strong connections across Chianti. And he partnered with some of his favorite growers in the region to craft a fine Chianti that showcases the quality of their carefully tended vineyards.

The result is Poggio Tempesta, a top-notch Chianti Superiore (a designation given to wines that meet stricter quality and aging requirements) that has won four gold medals. Made from a traditional blend of Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Colorino grapes, and patiently barrel aged, it brims with vibrant red cherry and mocha flavors. Guarantee to impress with classic Italian fare—from antipasti to Florentine steak to heaping plates of pasta.
