Beyond the label

“Portugal is now gushing with stunning wines—and yes, stunning deals...Portugal very likely now offers some of the greatest wine values on the market today.”
– Wine Spectator

One sip of Quinta do Espírito Santo, crafted by the renowned José Luis Oliveira da Silva (below), will have you convinced that the Wine Spectator quote above is spot on.

Aside from the major Port producers, José’s family quinta (estate) is the most awarded in the country. In fact, the Da Silva family has been an acclaimed producer and exporter of Portuguese wine since the early 19th century. And quality’s really taken off in the past few years.

Always a head turner on the international awards circuit, Quinta do Espírito Santo—an exclusive they make just for our customers—boasts a history of major acclaim. A previous release won a “Best-in-Show” gold medal from Mundus Vini, and we expect the new 2021 to rack up its own awards. It’s a wine fans of big, rich reds just have to try, and it’s priced for very generous pouring.

José begins with a blend of Tinta Roriz (aka Tempranillo in Spain) and local Portuguese star Castelão. Six months in Portuguese and American oak marries inviting spice characters with blackberry, plum and black cherry jam notes. Ideal for seared red meats or hearty stews—and it’s plenty smooth enough to enjoy on its own.

This mouthfilling red is a proven crowd pleaser with customers, so you’ll have to act quickly to secure your share.
