Our Spain expert has connections all over the country. So, when a top estate in rugged Navarra needed to make room in their cellar, she was their first call. That means you enjoy exclusive access to this rich, black-fruited Cabernet at a great price.

Rocky, rugged Navarra is often overshadowed by its popular neighbor, Rioja. But the wines of Navarra can be just as wonderful—if you know where to look. Our local expert got a tip about an estate crafting some seriously delicious Cabernet, and she hit the road to learn more. She discovered that they typically use it to ‘beef up’ their blends and were excited to showcase the quality of their 100% Navarra Cab to our customers.

We can’t wait for you to try it—especially if you’re a fan of Bordeaux’s famous reds. Judges at the New York International Wine Competition were so impressed, they awarded it 95 points and a gold medal.

You see, this oak-aged Cab is closer in style to Bordeaux than the juicy bottlings of California. It’s medium bodied with flavors of fresh black currant and blackberry, plus subtle spice notes and structured tannins. So it’ll have nice fruit flavor and finish on the dry side, making it an excellent wine to pair with food.

Locals enjoy it with a plate of Manchego cheese and slices of Iberico ham, but it’ll also hit a homerun with steak, burgers, winter stews or a hearty roast.

Raymond has also held Wine Enthusiast’s American Winery of the Year title. Well-deserved praise—and just the tip of the accolades iceberg for this impressive outfit. 

Their gorgeous, ripe-fruited Initial Cabernet Sauvignon has its own impressive history of acclaim (a previous vintage scooped a silver medal at the San Francisco International Wine Competition). And it’ll only take an initial sip of the new 2021 release to demonstrate how they’ve managed to capture all the kudos… 

Head winemaker Stephanie Putnam, below, former star at Far Niente (the famous Napa estate whose Cabs fetch hundreds of dollars a bottle), crafted Initial with Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from some of the Golden State’s best vineyards. Look forward to ripe black currant, cherry and plum notes, supported by hints of dark chocolate and toasty spice. Initial Cabernet Sauvignon

“Bill Knuttel is a former president of the California Cabernet Society. Lost Isle Cab shows his skill with Cab.”

Crafted by acclaimed winemaker William Knuttel, Lost Isle Cabernet Sauvignon hails from Wilson Vineyards in California’s Clarksburg region. Aged for 14 months in fine French oak barrels, it brims with ripe dark fruit and baking spice flavors.

Winemaker William “Bill” Knuttel earned recognition and respect while working for two iconic California wineries: Saintsbury in Napa Valley and Chalk Hill in Sonoma. Nowadays, he crafts his own (equally delicious) wines, and you’re in for a real treat with his gold-medal-winning Lost Isle Cabernet Sauvignon 2022.

Bill crafted it with grapes grown at Wilson Vineyards in Clarksburg, which he’s worked closely with for over two decades. He chose Cabernet Sauvignon from his favorite old vines, that produce grapes with exceptionally concentrated flavors. The fog and cool breezes that roll in from the San Francisco Bay helped to moderate the particularly temperate 2022 vintage, leading to an ideal balance of ripeness and freshness. (Given all that, it’s no wonder that some Napa winemakers add Clarksburg grapes to their wines for a bolder, richer finish.) 

Lost Isle was aged for 14 months in fine French oak barrels and bottled delicately, without the need for fining. In the glass, look forward to expressive aromas of ripe plum and black cherry, melded with hints of baking spices. The dark-fruit flavors are accented beautifully on the palate, with velvety tannins and an appetizing freshness that makes this well-balanced Cabernet an endlessly versatile pairing for your favorite grilled meats, vegetables and firm cheeses.
