Beyond the label

Long before it became one of California’s coolest wine regions (figuratively and literally), Santa Barbara County was home to several Spanish missions. Inspired by that history, The Mission is a divine, citrusy-fresh Grüner Veltliner. which received a lot of acclaim, including 91 points at the New York International Wine Competition.

Although native to Austria, Grüner Veltliner (or “Groo-Vee,” as devoted fans call it) thrives in California. Santa Barbara County benefits from a long growing season, which gives the grapes plenty of time to develop concentrated flavors. Cool winds and fog from the Pacific Ocean play a role, too, preventing over-ripening and keeping the fruit fresh.

This elegant Grüner Veltliner offers citrus peel, soft stone fruit and flinty mineral notes. Enjoy with chopped asparagus salad, schnitzel or grilled snapper.
