Beyond the label

Theodora Lee was the first female Black vineyard owner in Northern California and now you can taste her boutique white.

Theodora was already well into her career as a successful trial lawyer when she founded Theopolis Vineyards. She took viticulture classes at UC Davis on the side and chose a unique site in Mendocino County’s Yorkville Highlands.

She quickly earned a formidable reputation. Famed actress Diahann Carroll nicknamed her “Theo-Patra, Queen of Vineyards” and her wines earned critical acclaim from top critics and competitions.

Named Theo-Patra’s Cuvée Blanc, this 100% Chardonnay is well deserving of its regal name and treated to the utmost care in the winery. Theodora used Burgundy’s traditional pigeage method of gently plunging the grape skins floating at the service into the juice. Then, she barrel fermented the wine in French oak and aged it on the lees for 36 months.

The golden-hued white blossoms with aromas of honeydew melon, peach and lemon. The perfectly balanced, luscious palate offers tropical fruit notes and subtle spice. Lovely with roasted chicken or fresh pasta, and equally delightful on its own.

Only 100 cases available.
