Vesuvium Greco di Tufo 2022
Though lesser known, Greco di Tufo is one of Italy’s most tremendous white grapes, capabale of producing deliciously fresh wines with citrus and orchard fruit flavors, and lovely floral and mineral notes reminiscent of Viognier.
Named after Europe’s most famous volcano (Mount Vesuvius), Vesuvium is a fantastic example of just what the variety is capable of in the right hands.
From a small, family-owned winery, it's crafted from grapes grown at altitudes of around 1,600 ft in the Irpinian hills of Campania (near Naples), where cooling sea breezes help to lock in freshness and nutrient-starved volcanic soils contribute a layer of complexity.
You can expect a beguiling combination of ripe lime and honeysuckle notes accented by flavors of apricot, pear, almonds and lemon. Or, as top critics The Wine Gang said of a recent vinatage: “What a delightful wine this lemon, lime and sherbet little number is … an almost Riesling like purity and limey precision pushes through to a long finish. Taut, classy stuff.”
This is a white to savor on its own, but it wuld be equally delicious alongside Mediterranean cuisine or with young goat cheese.
This classy, refreshing Italian rarity is a steal at today’s price – order now.
